People who do not want water in their ear canals can have floatable swimmer's ear plugs made of a water resistant material which can even be made to change colors!

We employ one of several methods to remove wax. Commonly, an instrument is used to pick the wax from the ear. In some cases, the ear must be flushed with water, which forces the wax from the ear canal. A more sophisticated method is the use of an ear vacuum. In extreme cases where the wax has hardened and is difficult to remove, the patient will be sent home with instuctions on how to use ear drops to soften the wax. Once softened, the patient will return and wax can be easily removed by one of the aforementioned methods.
Although uncomfortable and foreign-feeling for some people, ear wax removal is ususally a painless procedure.
